WOMENS RUGBY WORLD CUP
The Women’s Rugby World Cup brings together the top 12 rugby nations and pits their international women’s teams head-to-head over a five week tournament. Innaugarated in 1991, the ninth edition of the tournament was played in New Zealand in 2022 (originally scheduled for 2021 but pushed back a year due to the covid pandemic).
The final was a nail-biting thriller! England, two-time RWC Champions, faced hosts New Zealand, with five RWC Championships to their name, in what would go down as one of the most thrilling game of women’s rugby in World Cup history. It went down to the wire with the Black Ferns pipping the Red Roses 34 points to 31 at the final whistle.
That game, and the tournament as a whole, set a high bar for the Women’s Rugby World Cup, next hosted by England in 2025.
